My name is Pai Buabthong (or Pakpoom Buabthong where ‘Pakpoom’ is my full first name). I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Division of Applied Physics and Materials Science at California Institute of Technology, working with Prof. Nathan S. Lewis in the Joint Center for Artificial Photosynthesis (JCAP). My research focuses on materials development and protective coating for efficient photoelectrochemical water splitting devices. Aside from fundamental science, my interests also include machine learning and software/mobile applications development. Prior to joining Caltech in 2015, I was an iOS and Android application developer and an animator at Scientific Animations Without Borders (SAWBO). Currently, I am working on developing a generative model to create realistic seismograms as part of Early Earthquake Warning effort at Caltech’s Division of Geological and Planetary Sciences.
